47th Swiss Open Championship

This is an open Go tournament, players from all nations and all levels are welcome!

The top three players (irrespective of nationality) get cash prices, the best Swiss player gets the title "Swiss champion 2024".

The winner of the Open Tournament is Zhentao Liu 5d, congratulations!

The top-ranking Swiss player, and therefore the new Swiss Champion, is Frederic Schlattner 2d, on place 2.

Last-minute information

Registration: On both days, the building opens at 8:00 and registration is 9:00-9:45. You can play on both days, or one day only.

Public transport / parking: Use public transport if possible. The walking time from the railway station is 5 minutes. There is a parking space right next to the building where we play, it is accessible from Klosterzelgstrasse.

Playing room: the room in which we play is on the first floor, room number 1.145.

Food and drink: Many restaurants and shops nearby are open on Saturday, fewer on Sunday. We will also have original Japanese cup noodles for sale, and if you want to bring and heat food, we have four microwave ovens. There will be free soft drinks, sparkling water, coffee and tea.

Shops: there will be two small shops with Go books and Go material, so bring your pocket money ;)

Prizes: there will be money prizes for the three best-placed players and the Swiss Champion, and additional prizes from our sponsors for the players with the most wins.

Date and location: 14./15. September 2024 in Brugg/Windisch

The venue is building 1 of Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz FHNW, Address: Klosterzelgstrasse 2, 5210 Windisch. The FHNW campus is right next to Brugg railway station.

We will play five rounds: On-site registration starts on 9:00 on Saturday. The Saturday games will start at 10:00, 14:00 and 17:00; the Sunday games at 9:00 and 13:00, with a prize ceremony at 16:30.

Tournament mode: class A McMahon tournament. Time control will be Fisher time with 45 min. base time and 15 sec. per move.

This is an open tournament, players from all nations and all levels are welcome. The best-ranked Swiss player will claim the title "Swiss Champion".

Registration

The registration fee is CHF 30.-- (CHF 15.-- for students and children), to be paid at the tournament.

Pre-registration is now closed; but you can just come and register on the tournament day from 9:00-9:45.
